Welcome to Landscape Architecture, Regional and Community Planning
in the College of Architecture Planning and Design at Kansas State
University.
Message
from the Department Head Dan Donelin, FASLA
What is it that
makes Kansas State University a great place to study Landscape
Architecture or Regional and Community Planning? Is it the students?
Definitely! They come mostly from Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.
However, we also have students from California, Texas, Oklahoma,
Illinois, Utah, and many other areas of the country. They come because
they have investigated what we have to offer and like what they found.
A caring faculty with a great deal of teaching and professional
experience; low student faculty ratios where no one gets lost in the
crowd; a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for a professional
career; a learning environment that encourages communication between
faculty and students; and a college that offers other design disciplines
from which to interact. Very much like the real world!
Kansas State
University and Manhattan, Kansas is a friendly place with many educational
and extracurricular opportunities. The University, with its 22,000
students, and the City of Manhattan and its 45,000 residents, share many
social and cultural activities as well as the landscape beauty of the
surrounding Flint Hills.
The College of
Architecture, Planning and Design is located in Seaton Hall, one of the
oldest and most historic buildings on campus. Fortunately, due to a
recent six million dollar renovation, it has been transformed into one of
the most modern educational facilities in the country.
The college has
curriculums in Regional and Community Planning, Landscape Architecture,
Architecture, and Interior Architecture and Product Design. The
Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning
offers an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture with 110
students, second year through the fifth year; the Master of Landscape
Architecture program is a seven-semester program with 27 students
presently enrolled; and the Master of Regional and Community is a four
semester program with 19 students enrolled.
The Landscape
Architecture and Planning programs (BLA, MLA and MRCP) provide an
extraordinary educational experience that is recognized nationally for the
high quality and capability of its graduates. Employment of our students
is almost 100% prior to graduation and our graduates advance quickly to
positions of responsibility and leadership.

designing of our future rural, urban and community environments? Enjoy
